Market Report October 2002
Back to news index
Eucalyptus Oil
Prices continue to move up and down on the slightest rumour or whisper
from origin.
Orange Oil
Our broker informs us that a number of Brazilian producers are not
offering Orange Oil for forward shipment. We have also learned
that the Florida crop is "lower than last year by a considerable amount".
Spot demand for Orange oil is firming and we will see increase in the
cost of Orange Oil and derivatives in the coming months.
Rosemary Oil
Tunisian suppliers of Rosemary say supplies are scarce, and
Moroccan Rosemary is offer at inflated prices. So far, buyers are resisting.

Web Watch
The Countryside Alliance march was in many ways an unbelieveable
success. Most broadsheet newspapers put the numbers attending in
excess of 400,000. This is phenomenal when you compare it to previous
gatherings of this sort, such as the CND march back in the
80s at the height of the Campaign for Nucleur Disarmament with an estimated 250,000 participants.
I do hope this gives the countryside a platform to work from, as we already know Emperor Bel-Air will
choose to ignore the matter, safe in the knowledge that the
politcal opposition did not harness the event to further highlight
the plight of our rural communities. I must admit my own
frustration at the number of people who still think the issue is
about fox hunting and how cruel the sport is and how it's run by
toffs from the country. As I have suggested to them, please check out the
website www.countryside-alliance.org
for a better look at the wider issues involved.
