The Government is obsessed with spin and chooses to
focus their attention on a 'Hunting Ban'. Granted, I
personally am not completely at ease with hunting but
there are many more equally serious issues people are
either not aware of or may choose to ignore.
Farming is the cornerstone of the countryside, and
many have suffered from the recent Foot & Mouth
crisis, which the government managed to handle
disastrously while wasting an absolute fortune of tax
payers' money. Supermarkets continue to drive down
costs of farmed produce resulting in diminishing returns
for the farmers. Legislation and directives flowing from
Brussels with little or no opposition from Emperor Bel-Air
mean that British farmers are not competing on a level
playing field, as most imported produce comes from
countries with cheap labour, little or no legislation to
contend with, or crippling taxes to worry about.
What about the closure, in increasing numbers, of rural
post offices, banks, schools, pubs, and local amenaties?
If you think the transport infastructure in towns and
cities is pathetic, how bad do you think it is in rural
areas? How do you explain to pensioners, young
families and the disabled that their local post office is
closing and they will have to travel who knows how
many miles to get provisions and pensions?
Get the Bus? Assuming there is one, it may only pass
one day a week if at all. The nearest bank, shop
or post office can be miles away. Need to visit a local
doctor, well if you are lucky to have one you will wait for
an appointment, and if you need a hospital, the wards
are understaffed and the nurses grossly underpaid and overworked.
Meanwhile crime figures, are rising, even though they
are 'doctored' to try to keep them low. Illegal
immigrants coming into the Country are conservatively
running at 20,000 a month. Emperor Tony is putting
pressure on the Immigration Authorities to 'ease off' on
the number of illegals being stopped at our ports and
airports, in an attempt to reduce the 'official figures'.
The country is in an unfortunate position in that we do
not have a political party strong enough to oppose the
the government, so the Countryside Alliance is
organising this march and many other events not just
as a protest, but even a cry for help. Emporer Tony will
more than likely choose to ignore the event and hope
the movement will eventually peter out of existance. He
will continue to 'spin' his way on to other single issue
pressure groups, but I feel this won't go away. Support
countryside issues!
