One of the large U.F. Fragrance Compound buyers has purchased
substantial quantities of Indonesian Patchouli recently, taking
a large chunk of spot material off the market. There is not
enough replacement Patchouli Oil coming through to fulfill current
demand so prices have jumped by as much as 35% in a matter of days.
We reckon as supplies of Patchouli Oil become more plentiful, the
price will gradually ease back over the next 4 - 6 months.
Although harvesting of Rose is still a month away, our Bulgarian
distiller advises the crop will be poor this year, and similar
news reaches us from Turkey.
Distillation has commenced in both Morocco and Tunisia. We hope to
have indications on quantities available and prices in the coming weeks.
